In this module we will take a look at how to arrange events and how to run a project from start to end. My hope for you is that you will find a valuable tool in this course material to assist you through the planning, running and aftermath of any event or small project.

More about Sandra


Sandra has an MCom degree in Tourism Management, her majors being Tourism Management, Event Coordination, Business Management, Recreation Studies and Psychology. She has ten years experience in the Special Event and Hospitality Industry.

From 2010 she has been working full time in ministry dealing with event management, financial decision-making, business administration and co-facilitating various workshops, such as Gallup Strenghtsfinder®.
She worked in the hospitality industry from 2007 as Banqueting Manager at an upmarket wine estate in Stellenbosch, overseeing all hospitality personnel, hosting events from small private get-togethers, conferences, weddings and year-end functions.

One of the main purposes of special event management is to increase networking opportunities. Project management techniques are often used for strategizing purposes and for planning the operations of a business.

Having an eye for detail and being creative are valuable skills for organising a successful event or project. Being able to put together and launch an event such as a golf day, awards ceremony or networking event is a valuable business tool. It includes a range of skills such as project planning, social media, directed networking and more.
